Refraction Table

Square

With access to an Epilog laser cutter, I set out to design a clear acrylic coffee table inspired by the tribal designs I’ve drawn for years.  I built a prototype to test the assembly process and durability of the design.  I’ve since then iterated the design with more fluid shape changes that also create a hidden “tunnel” wrapping around the inside of the structure.  All these passageways and shapes will produce even more refraction of the surrounding environment as the viewing angle changes.  Tucked away in the very center of the table is a shelf for displaying a showpiece of the user’s choosing.
