Honoring Betty Guy
This piece honors the previous owner of the very home the materials are sourced from and where it’s now installed; home to the famous artist Betty Guy. She was very good friends with the Steinbecks and known around the world for her beautiful watercolor landscapes. She was active in the fine arts community around San Francisco for most of her life.
To honor her imprint on the home, I incorporated design elements from one of her several stained glass windows in the home. I like to believe she gazed out this window at the panoramic views of San Francisco from this home and included in her own artwork. This piece represents a look into both her creative eye and My Eye.
From Concept To Finished Piece
My clients and I iterated through three largely different designs before settling on this rendering. This process is critical to ensure everyone has the same vision in mind before construction can begin.
